About Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary
Nagzira wildlife Sanctuary is a marvelous treasure house of nature, aptly known as ‘Green Oasis of Vidarbha’. This verdure sanctuary is, in fact nature’s priceless asset that beckons everyone to enjoy its picturesque landscapes, scenic beauty and its purest air. This miraculously verdant sanctuary is nestled in the easternmost Maharashtra, between Bhandara and Gondia districts. It’s a living outdoor museum to explore and appreciate nature.
Nagzira is an ideal jaunt for nature lovers and bird watchers.
Nagzira and New Nagzira Tiger Reserve are home to number of fish, 34 species of mammles, 166 species of birds, 36 species of reptiles and f4 species of amphibians. This sanctuary is home to Royal Bengal Tiger, Leopard, Sloth Bear, Wild Dogs, Jungle cats, Rusty Spotted Cat, Porcupine, etc. Nagzira has a large number of herbivorous such as Spotted Deer, Sambhar Deer, Blue Bull, Barking Deer, and Indian Gaur. Wild Boars are also found in plenty. This reserve has many lakes making them a breeding ground for migrating birds and also cater as water reserves for wild animals.
Dendu, A mark – The legendary Queen, Prince, Jay & Veeru, Alpha are the main tigers of Nagzira.
The best time to visit the sanctuary is from March to May.
There are forest rest houses near Nagzira Lake. They surely offer a wonderful opportunity to tune in with the mystique and serene nature.
